In her 30-year career as a photojournalist, Jean has traveled throughout the world, photographing subjects ranging from a gospel group traveling through the rural South to Muslim women in the Middle East and leprosy colonies in India. During her 15 years as a staff photographer at the Atlanta Constitution, Jean photographed countless celebrities, including Woody Allen, Heath Ledger, Usher and Hugh Grant. But it is capturing the moments that define our lives – both ordinary and extraordinary – that are her specialty.
“Photographing weddings is a wonderful opportunity to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments that will be treasured for generations,” she says. “I consider it a privilege and an honor to be trusted with documenting such an important day.”
Jean’s training started at the University of Missouri, where she majored in photojournalism. She has held staff positions at small, medium and large metropolitan newspapers, and has received national recognition for her documentary photography, including being awarded the Nikon Documentary Sabbatical Grant to photograph grandparents raising their grandchildren.
