The resident monks of the Buddhamongkolnimit temple in Albuquerque make three rounds walking around the main chapel during a candlelight ceremony as a sign of respect to the Buddha. While they are walking, the monks reflect on the virtues of the Buddh, the Dhamma and the Sangha. The Buddhist congregation was celebrating the Asalha Puja and Khao Phansa Day on July 21, 2002. This day marks the commencement of the annual three month retreat of the Buddhist monks during the rainy season. Customarily, the monks stay inside their monasteries to study and meditate.
